Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this generator to create a barcode for a supermarket product?
You can use it to create the barcode image after obtaining a legitimate product identifier. For commercial retail products, do not simply invent an EAN or UPC number. Obtain the appropriate GTIN through GS1 or the authorized GS1 organization applicable to your business first.
Can I create a barcode for my 1 kg packaged product?
Yes. However, if the product is intended for commercial retail sale, the product identifier should first be legitimately assigned to that product. You can then enter the appropriate identifier into the generator and create the corresponding barcode image.
Can I generate a random EAN-13 number?
The generator can create a barcode image from a valid numeric input, but a randomly created number should not be represented as an official commercial product identifier. Commercial product identifiers need to be legitimately assigned through the appropriate numbering system.
Does generating a barcode mean that my product is approved for sale?
No. A barcode is an identification mechanism. It does not by itself establish product approval, regulatory compliance, supermarket supplier approval, licensing, product registration or permission to sell.
