Filler Word Checker

Identify common filler words and phrases that may make your writing less direct.

What are filler words?

Filler words are words or phrases that can sometimes be removed without changing the core meaning of a sentence. They can be useful in conversational writing, but excessive use may reduce conciseness.

Common examples

Examples include words such as "actually," "basically," "really," "very," and "just," as well as phrases such as "in order to" and "at this point in time."

Do not remove everything

A flagged word is not automatically unnecessary. Always consider its meaning and role in the sentence before removing it.
